Care Continuity

Set up your agency in 8 steps

Follow these in order. Tick each line as you go — this page remembers your place on this device. Most agencies finish the first six steps in about half an hour.

Before you start

Why: every screen below asks for these. Having them in front of you is the difference between 30 minutes and a whole afternoon.

The 8 steps

1

Create your agency account

About 5 minutes

Care Continuity sign-in screen with the New agency create account link outlined in red
Step 1: on the sign-in screen, choose "New agency? Create account".

You now have: an agency with a 14-day free trial, and you are its owner.

Watch out: the email you sign up with becomes the owner account. Use an address you will keep, not a personal one you might lose.
2

Set your agency details and pay rules

About 5 minutes

Your agency screen showing name, logo and colour theme
Your agency: logo, name and theme.
Pay rules screen with the overtime hours field outlined in red
Pay rules: overtime, holiday pay and the holiday list.

You now have: pay and billing that follow your own rules, used automatically every month.

Alberta agencies: the app starts with the Alberta rule — overtime after 8 hours a day at 1.5× — and the 9 Alberta general holidays for 2026 and 2027. Outside Alberta, daily overtime starts switched off, so set it yourself. Care does not calculate tax, CPP or EI.
3

Add your first client

About 4 minutes per client

Client record with the Update location from address button outlined in red
After saving, press "Update location from address" — attendance needs it.

You now have: a client the app can match workers to, and an address GPS attendance can check against.

Watch out: if the address lookup says "Address not found", attendance cannot be verified for that client. Fix the address until the location is found.
4

Add your workers

About 3 minutes per worker

Documents screen listing files and their expiry dates
Documents: set an expiry and Care warns you 30 days before.

You now have: workers the app can match, and warnings 30 days before any permit or document runs out.

Useful: a worker whose permit has expired is never offered a visit after that date. The app handles this for you.
5

Give everyone their own login

About 5 minutes

Invitations screen for workers and clients
Invitations: workers and clients.
Agency team screen for inviting a manager or payroll person
Agency team: manager and payroll, owner only.

You now have: workers who see their own visits on their phones, and family who can see the schedule.

Watch out: the invitation email must match the email on the record exactly, and the record must be active. Each invitation works once and expires.
6

Build the schedule

About 1 minute per visit

Schedule screen with the Create shift button outlined in red
Schedule: "+ Create shift".
Replacement drafts screen with the Approve button outlined in red
Replacement drafts: approve the worker you want.

You now have: a live schedule that respects hour limits, languages, worker preferences, travel time and days off.

Why the app suggests instead of assigning: it checks the rules, you make the call. A worker the client marked as not wanted is never suggested.
7

Run the day

Ongoing

Worker visit screen with the red Urgent get help now button outlined
What the worker sees, including the urgent button.
Urgent alerts and records screen
Urgent & records: acknowledge alerts, keep complaints.

You now have: proof of every visit, and a warning 15 minutes after a start time if nobody has clocked in.

Tell your clients and staff: urgent alerts reach the office in the app and by email. They are not text messages, and they are never a substitute for calling 911.
8

Close the month

About 10 minutes

Financial drafts screen with pay statements and invoices
Financial drafts: pay statements and invoices.

You now have: pay and invoices built from real clocked hours, not from memory.

Safe by design: running payroll twice never pays twice, and an approved statement or invoice does not change if you edit a rate later.
